Dubbed ‘The Heroes British Rock Needs Right Now’, I held high hopes for Hunter and the Bear’s live show and, let me tell you, they did not disappoint.

The buzz in the Bodega’s intimate upstairs venue was something to behold. One thing to note is that Hunter and the Bear’s fans seem to be some of the friendliest people out there. Indeed, the crowd had the feel of a (very excited and slightly edgy) gathering of old friends, as fans of all ages chatted and joked around as they waited for the band to come on stage. It didn’t matter whether you were an old fan (some people I spoke to had been to every single show to date) or new, everyone was welcome here.

The set itself contained a well thought out assortment of old and new songs, including crowd favourites “Charlotte Street”, “Paper Heart”, “Hologram” and their current single “Chemical”, along with some of their highly anticipated new material. Hunter and the Bear delivered a fiery, powerful show of exceptional quality. There is no denying that these boys are talented.

Arguably one of the most important elements in a show is the stage presence of a band and, as expected, Hunter and the Bear did not disappoint. Their connection to their fans shone through both during and in between songs as they chatted, laughed and pulled faces at the crowd, inviting everyone to join them out in Nottingham after the show to celebrate a successful tour and drummer Gareth’s birthday.

In just a few years Hunter and the Bear have managed to build themselves up to become one of the most exciting up-and-coming bands on the rock scene. There’s no doubt that these boys are the ones to watch as their charisma, genuine talent and passion sets them apart from the rest. I would highly recommend you checking them out as soon as possible!
